CL WEEK: Featuring POSTER MAKING CONTEST

La Verdad Christian College held its very first CL Week last January 28 to February 1, 2013 with its theme “Beneficial Inspiring Biblical Learning Experience (B.I.B.L.E)”.
Everyone was so busy preparing for their winning piece. The third year students (AB Broadcasting) were the organizer of the said event.

Each section has their representatives for every category, Bible Preaching, Bible Quiz Bee, Our Modest GAYAK (OMG), Chorale, Christian Dance, Photo Making Contest, ASOP, and of course, Poster Making Contest. In Poster Making Contest, each section has its two representatives. Contestants had to interpret the theme with their artistic skills.

Everyone was so determined to win. But, there are only three to be declared the best. Julius Paranal of MCT11 got the second place. Joemer delos Santos of the same section got the first place. And the champion, came from the MCT12, Jack Lord Suzon.

All of the contestants were good. They had shown their talents and skills. All of the students of course, had a very great time and had a “Biblical Inspirational Biblical Learning Experience” because of the said activity, which is the CL Week. Thanks be to God for His mercy and grace for helping the activity successful!

Bible Quiz Bee

Last January 21-25, 2013, La Verdad Christian College, Caloocan celebrated our Christian Living Week. It was held at La Vedad Christian College Caloocan campus.

This occasion help the students to enhance their knowledge about the Bible and how to practice a Christian Living; specially the Bible quiz competition. Every section must have a representative which is non- Church of God International member.

As one of the contestant together with my classmate Sharmaine Jimenez, we have learned  lot of things like facts and trivia about the Bible. It is very challenging, we almost make it to the championship but the representative from the others section was more competitive than us.

The contestants who got the championship were the students from MCT 13: Jeraldine Salin and Grezel Jade Padrigaras
And HCS 11 Erica Barran and Anna Marie Erroy.

Bible Preaching: An Unexpected Yet Unforgettable Experience

Who am I to preach? Who am I to share God's words given the fact that I’m a very sinful person? These are the questions that sink in my mind when my classmates wanted me to join the presentation in bible preaching on our school. I want to refuse; honestly I reacted violently when I heard their request. I'm a sinner, so bible preaching was very awkward for me. The only reason why they wanted me as their representative is because, according to them, I can deliver my words clearly to the people when I speak in front. They saw this while I'm reporting for our subject matters. But this time it’s a very different one!

I did nothing but to follow what they want since I don't have any participation in our “Christian Living Week”. My classmate, Bro. Richard, taught me how to preach because he's a worker. He gave techniques and tips. He even explained my topic. But upon studying the topic that was given to me, I am so confused and afraid because I don't' know what will happen when the day of the contest came. Actually, my aim was not to win. What I wanted to happen was I'll be able deliver my topic well.

When that day came, the contest, I am very worried because I failed to memorize the lines that I will say in front. But bro. Richard told me that it's okay as long as I know what my topic is all about. I don't have to memorize my lines word by word. So when they called my name to stand in front and start preaching. My fear and anxieties are gone. But while I'm talking in front, the people have no reaction; they are just staring at me. I was worried. Am I making them feel sleepy? Maybe they don't find me as an effective speaker. I finished my topic in time and they clapped afterwards. But sorrow comes next because I am thinking why they were so quiet while I'm speaking.

When the contest ended, I went to my classmates and apologized for what I did. But they reacted differently. They said that I have nothing to feel sorry about since it's a good job. I don't want to believe them because for me, they are just making my feelings at ease. I also ask them why the people are not reacting while I'm talking. Their answer was, “You caught our attention that's why no one reacts or talks while you are preaching.” I feel glad after hearing that, I don't know if they are just fooling me or what but I really felt happy afterwards.. Even my instructor, Sir Tykes, pinched my ear and congratulate me for what I've did. So I am very thankful to God because of the result of the performance.

Though I didn't won, I am still very thankful and glad because God let me try this opportunity. And luckily, it was a successful one.

Chorale Actual

  "Pasasalamatan namin ng walang hanggan
Pupurihin namin ang dakila mong ngalan
Ihahayag namin ang iyong kadakilaan
      Hanggang wakas ng buhay pasasalamatan

“Pasasalamatan Extended Version” is one of the songs of praises to Glorify God and to thank Him for everything that he gave to us.

C.L week is one of the events in La Verdad which students were all busy preparing for all the programs. First year, second year and especially the third year students were all in hectic schedule, one of the categories in C.L week was the “CHORALE”. Every section has different ways to express their feeling through their chosen song.

Students were all happy singing the praise songs. They’d love what they were doing. They sang their songs from the bottom of their hearts.

Surprisingly, our performance in the actual presentation was very far from the things happened during our rehearsal. We all looked happy, and obviously enjoyed the performance.
Thanks be to God because even though we have the simplest performance among the contestants, we still won the place “Champion”.

The title of being champion is not just for us, MCT-12, but it’s really for our creator …. It’s really for GOD.

Christian Dance Actual
Patrick CaiƱa

On the event, CL Week was a very good and awesome event. It has a lot of activities, including the Christian Dance. This category was participated by different sections from Mass Communication Technology 11, 12, 13, 21, 22, AB Broadcasting 31 and Health Care Services 11 and 21.

The said category was very nice, even though some of the contestants were not that fully prepared but still, the show has its beauty because you can feel that they were dancing with their hearts and they were all offering that dance to our Creator who gave those talents.

It was an overwhelming experience to see that even there are lots of disturbances, pressures and different kinds of distractions. The contestants ignored it just to show to the audiences that they were confident on what are they going to do.

Getting ready for the ASOP production

One of the highlight in La Verdad Christian College-Caloocan CL month is the song writing composition which is A Song Of Praise (ASOP) LVCC. It was announced last December 2012 that every section should have two representatives in ASOP music festival, one is a tagalong composition and the other one should be an English composition. The event manager of ASOP La Verdad was Ms. Katrina Deang. All of the contestants was accompanied by Mr. Zandro Zaragosa, John Cris Pedutem and Shardei Bueno, the Music Directors.

Interviews to the composers was also held at La Verdad Christian College and also the photo shoot of the composers and interpreters. The ASOP production was organized by the La Verdad students especially by the third year students. Mr. Victor U. Solano was the director of the ASOP La Verdad Christian College- Caloocan which had an ethnic concept. An own version of ASOP theme song was also made by LVCC-Caloocan which was also ethnic, which was an idea from the director. The director had thought of an ethnic concept because he wanted to follow the genre of the song of the last grand winner of ASOP 2012- “Purihin Mo Ang Dios Oh Pilipinas”.

The night before the ASOP was very busy. The director, organizers, technical staffs, dancers, contestants and other people that are involved in the production, gave their full effort and time   even the school administrator. The rehearsal and preparation for the production was held until early in the morning. It was really exciting. The songs that were composed by the students are all so good. The production as rehearsed is also so great. It was the first time that an ASOP production was held in La Verdad Christian College which the students are the organizers. The composers and the interpreters are also students from La Verdad. Getting ready for the production was so exciting,  awesome and great. What more in the day that ASOP La Verdad was held?

Gayak Fashion Show

"Gayak" fashion show was the best experience for me so far. It was about the right clothes that a Christian must wear. This kind of event was marked to me because I belonged to the chosen students which ramp on the stage wearing a nice dress in front of the students and instructors. I'm one of the model in "Gayak" fashion wear.

When Sis. Meryl told me that I will be one of the models in this event; I refused her request for I was shy and I was alsothinking that I may not fit for this kind of show. But as time goes by, I then realized that trying one will not lose me anything. So I just put to my mind that I was so lucky because for many students who also wanted to be one of the models, I waschosen

During the preparation, I was so excitedabout the clothes that I might wear in the fashion show. It was an achievement for me even in the simple things like that, for I learned so many things from it.

VARIETY SHOW

Production of MCT-12 (1st Sem)Alegria Joy Barilla

I will not forget the production made by MCT-12 (1st Sem). During our practices, we had faced many problems; firstly, the call time, if the leader said that the call time is 7am, otherswill come to school at 11am. Second, during our production, it was so embarrassing that although we presented it well, we admit that we did so many mistakes.

That production was one of the worst things we did so far. But then, I still don’t feel regret. I learned so many things from those mistakes. The dance of the boys was our highlight there; we had enjoyed and entertained about their performance and also, the sessionistas.

Fortunately, we did that even though we are not that ready to perform. Thanks be to God for it was successfully done.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NEWS GATHERING (LVCC)

A news gathering seminar was held at La Verdad Christian College. Many students from La Verdad and from different schools participated in this event. The objective of this seminar is to inform the students, most especially the Mass Communication students on how to gather news and also, the do’s and the don’ts when gathering a news.

The event was hosted by Ms. Annie Rentoy and Mr. Jeck De Ocampo. The students also did an activity where they reported a specific news that was given to them and they will going to report it based on what they learn about the discussion.

With God’s help, the seminar was successfully done and the students learned so much from it.
